  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pound lasagna noodles
  • 32 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Brown the ground beef and beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease. Add onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
  2. Step 2: Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Step 3: Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and lay flat.
  4. Step 4: In a bowl, mix ricotta, beaten eggs, and half a cup of Parmesan cheese.
  5. Step 5: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish, followed by layers of noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce. Repeat layers and finish with meat sauce and cheese.
  6. Step 6: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then remove foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly. Let rest before serving.
