Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (240ml) water
- ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour, sifted
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cooking spray or 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ½ cup (113g) chocolate chips (optional, for dipping)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream (optional, for dipping sauce)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and 2 tablespoons sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to low and add all the flour at once. Stir vigorously until mixture forms a ball and pulls away from sides, about 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally to release steam.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each until dough is smooth and glossy. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes. Lightly coat basket with cooking spray.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag with a large star tip. Pipe 1½-inch churro bites into the air fryer basket, leaving space between each.
- Lightly spray tops with cooking oil and air fry for 8-10 minutes until golden brown, turning halfway through.
- Mix cinnamon and sugar in a medium bowl. Roll hot churro bites in the mixture until fully coated.
- If making chocolate sauce, melt chocolate chips with heavy cream in microwave at 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Serve churro bites warm with optional chocolate dipping sauce.
