Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy

Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy

Description

Dinner in your slow cooker never tasted so good! This tender chicken smothered in rich, savory gravy is what comfort food dreams are made of.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 2 packets (0.87 oz each) chicken gravy mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1½ cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together gravy packets, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and thyme in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Lightly grease your slow cooker insert with cooking spray.
  3. Place chicken pieces in a single layer in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  4. Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken, making sure all pieces are coated. Dot with butter pieces.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours for boneless chicken (6-7 hours for bone-in) until chicken reaches 165°F and shreds easily.
  6. Remove chicken and shred or slice it on a cutting board.
  7. Return shredded chicken to the slow cooker, stir to coat with gravy, and cook for another 15-30 minutes.
  8. Taste, adjust seasoning if needed, and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
