Simple Baked Chicken Breast

Description

Juicy, tender chicken every time with this no-fail method that takes just 5 minutes to prep. Say goodbye to dry, boring chicken breasts forever.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 pounds or 900g total)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (sweet or smoked)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and take chicken out of the refrigerator 20 minutes before cooking.
  2. Pat chicken breasts completely dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, onion powder, and cayenne (if using).
  4. Drizzle olive oil over both sides of chicken breasts and rub to coat evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the spice mixture generously over both sides of the chicken, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the seasoned chicken breasts with space between each piece.
  7. Bake for 16-22 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 160-165°F (71-74°C).
  8. Remove from oven and transfer to a cutting board or plate. Cover loosely with foil and let rest for 5-10 minutes.
  9. Slice against the grain if desired or serve whole with fresh lemon wedges.
