Description
Make the perfect holiday treat with Peanut Butter Christmas Crack. A sweet, salty, and addictive snack that’s easy to prepare!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sleeve of saltine crackers (about 40 crackers)
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 cups semisweet or milk chocolate chips
- Optional: sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Prepare the Base: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the sheet.
- Make the Peanut Butter Mixture: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil. Let it boil for about 3 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter until smooth.
- Spread the Peanut Butter Mixture: Pour the peanut butter mixture over the crackers, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Make sure all the crackers are covered with the peanut butter mixture.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 5 minutes, or until the peanut butter mixture is bubbling.
- Add the Chocolate: Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot peanut butter layer. Let them sit for a minute or two to soften, then spread the melted chocolate evenly over the crackers using a spatula.
- Cool and Set: Let the Peanut Butter Christmas Crack cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then transfer it to the refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours. Once the chocolate is set, break the crack into pieces.
