- 2 cans (15 oz each) sliced peaches in heavy syrup
- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (if using fresh peaches)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Pour the peaches with about 2/3 of their syrup into the prepared baking dish, spreading them into an even layer. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg if using.
- Evenly distribute the dry cake mix over the peach layer, covering the fruit completely.
- Arrange the thin slices of butter across the entire surface of the cake mix, spacing them about 1/2 inch apart.
- If using, scatter the chopped pecans and sprinkle brown sugar over the top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
- Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an indulgent dessert experience.
