One Pan Sausage Green Beans

Description

This one-pan wonder with juicy sausage and crisp green beans will save your weeknight dinner routine. Ready in 30 minutes and everything cooks together for maximum flavor with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) Italian sausage links, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 1 1/2 pounds (680g) fresh green beans, trimmed and washed
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced (about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced sausage in a single layer and brown for 3-4 minutes per side until golden. Transfer to a plate, leaving drippings in pan.
  2. Reduce heat to medium and add remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Cook sliced onions until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, stirring for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add green beans to the skillet and toss to coat. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Pour in chicken broth, cover with lid, and steam for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove lid, increase heat to medium-high. Add balsamic vinegar and cook uncovered for 3-4 minutes until liquid reduces and beans are tender-crisp.
  5. Return browned sausage to the skillet and toss everything together for 2 minutes to reheat and combine flavors. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Remove from heat, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.
