Description

Mississippi Sin Quiche: Creamy, cheesy, and loaded with bacon and jalapenos. A comforting crowd-pleaser for any meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust (or homemade equivalent)
  • 8 oz (226g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) sour cream
  • 1 cup (113g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (113g) shredded Swiss cheese
  • 8 oz (226g) diced ham
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 12 jalapeños, seeded and finely diced (adjust for heat preference)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Crust Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). If using a store-bought crust, let it come to room temperature according to package directions. Place the crust in a 9-inch pie dish, pressing gently to fit. Use a fork to prick the bottom and sides, then line with parchment paper and fill with pie weights. Blind bake for 10 minutes, then remove the weights and parchment and bake for 5 more minutes until just beginning to turn golden. Remove and reduce oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Filling Mixture In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until completely smooth and no lumps remain. Add sour cream and blend until incorporated. This is your creamy base for the Mississippi Sin Quiche! Crack the eggs into a separate bowl, add milk and heavy cream, then whisk until well combined. Gradually pour this egg mixture into your cream cheese mixture, whisking constantly to ensure a smooth consistency.
  3. Step 3: Add the Flavor Components Now for the exciting part! Fold in both cheeses, diced ham, sliced green onions, and diced jalapeños. The combination of these ingredients is what gives the Mississippi Sin Quiche its distinctive flavor profile. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and cayenne (if using). Season with salt and black pepper to taste, being mindful that the ham and cheese already contain salt.
  4. Step 4: Assemble and Bake Pour your filling mixture into the par-baked crust, spreading evenly with a spatula. If you’re worried about spills, place your pie dish on a baking sheet first. For an extra-golden top, you can sprinkle a small amount of additional cheese over the surface. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40-45 minutes, or until the center is just slightly jiggly and the edges are set. If the crust edges start browning too quickly, cover them with a pie shield or aluminum foil.
  5. Step 5: Rest and Serve The final crucial step is allowing your Mississippi Sin Quiche to rest for at least 15-20 minutes before slicing. This resting period lets the custard fully set while still maintaining that luxuriously creamy texture. Slice with a sharp knife, cleaning the blade between cuts for the neatest presentation, and serve either warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Fresh ingredients will always yield the best flavor results.
