Description

Jalapeno Popper Crescent Rolls with cream cheese, jalapenos, bacon, and a crispy golden crust. Easy, delicious, crowd-pleasing appetizer!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (about 4 oz)
  • 45 jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely diced (about ½ cup)
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Filling In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, diced jalapenos, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. If using bacon, fold in the crumbled pieces now. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed. The filling should be creamy but thick enough to stay put when spread.
  2. Step 2: Prepare the Crescent Dough Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into triangles along the perforated lines. For extra-large **Jalapeno Popper Crescent Rolls**, you can press two triangles together to form a rectangle and then cut into new triangles. Lightly press the dough to seal any holes or thin spots.
  3. Step 3: Assemble the Rolls Place about 1-1½ tablespoons of the jalapeno mixture on the wide end of each crescent triangle. Spread it slightly, leaving about a ½-inch border around the edges. Carefully roll up each triangle, starting from the wide end and rolling toward the pointed tip. Make sure to tuck in any exposed filling and pinch the sides closed to seal. Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet, making sure the pointed tip is tucked underneath to prevent unraveling.
  4. Step 4: Bake to Perfection Lightly brush each **Jalapeno Popper Crescent Roll** with beaten egg for a golden finish. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 11-13 minutes, until the rolls are puffed up and golden brown. Keep a close eye on them after the 10-minute mark, as they can go from perfect to over-browned quickly. Allow the rolls to cool for 5 minutes before serving – this helps the filling set slightly and prevents burning your mouth on the hot filling.

Fresh ingredients will always yield the best flavor results.
