Description
These spooky Hot Dog Mummies are the perfect Halloween party trick that’s actually a treat. Quick to make and impossible to resist, they’ll disappear faster than you can say “boo!”
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 regular-sized hot dogs (about 1.5 lbs total)
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 2 slices American cheese (optional)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- Candy eyes or small dots of mayonnaise and black sesame seeds for eyes
- Ketchup and mustard for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll crescent dough on a lightly floured surface and pinch perforations together to create a solid sheet.
- Cut dough into thin strips about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide with varying widths.
- Pat hot dogs dry with paper towels and begin wrapping dough strips around each hot dog, leaving a small gap near the top for the “face.”
- Place wrapped hot dogs on baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Combine melted butter and garlic powder, then brush over dough wrappings.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until dough is puffed and golden brown.
- Allow to cool for 3-5 minutes before adding candy eyes or creating eyes with mayonnaise dots and black sesame seeds.
- Arrange on a serving platter with ketchup and mustard for dipping.
