Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs (900g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/3 cup (80ml) honey
- 6 large garlic cloves, minced (about 2 tablespoons)
- 1/4 cup (60ml) low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup (60ml) water
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Pat chicken pieces dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. In another bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken in a single layer (working in batches if needed) and cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip chicken pieces and cook another 3 minutes until nearly cooked through.
- Pour the honey-garlic mixture over the chicken and bring to a simmer. Add red pepper flakes if using. Cook for 2-3 minutes as sauce begins to reduce.
- Stir the cornstarch slurry and pour into the pan while stirring constantly. Cook for 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens into a glossy glaze coating the chicken.
- Remove from heat and let rest for 2 minutes. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
