Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs (900g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 12 cloves garlic, minced (about 1/4 cup)
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons neutral oil (canola or vegetable)
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon Hawaiian sea salt (or kosher salt)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons white wine (optional)
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. Combine paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt in a small bowl, then sprinkle over shrimp and toss to coat.
- Melt half the butter with oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
- Increase heat to medium-high. Add half the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and opaque. Transfer to a plate and repeat with remaining shrimp.
- Return pan to medium heat and add remaining butter. Once melted, add wine (if using) and lemon juice, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
- Return all shrimp to the pan along with any accumulated juices. Toss to coat in the sauce and cook for 30 seconds until warmed through.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle with parsley and green onions. Serve immediately over rice for an authentic Hawaiian experience.
