Ingredients
Scale
- 24 Oreo cookies (regular, not Double Stuf)
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 packages (3.9 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 3 cups cold milk
- 1 container (12 oz) frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 1 package gummy worms
- Halloween-themed candy decorations (candy pumpkins, candy corn, skeleton pieces)
- 2–3 Milano cookies or graham crackers (for tombstones)
- Black edible marker (food-safe)
Instructions
- Place Oreo cookies in a sealed plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin until they resemble dirt (varying texture). Set aside 1/4 cup for touch-ups.
- In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until light and creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes to thicken.
- Fold the pudding into the cream cheese mixture until fully incorporated, then gently fold in the whipped topping.
- In a clear trifle dish or container, create alternating layers starting with cookie crumbs, then pudding mixture. Repeat layers, finishing with cookie crumbs on top.
- Create tombstones by writing “RIP” on Milano cookies with edible marker. Insert these into the top layer along with gummy worms and Halloween candy decorations.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
- Just before serving, add any final decorations and sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs if needed.
