Golden Baked Provolone Chicken

Make weeknight dinner feel like a restaurant experience without the fuss – this golden, cheesy chicken bake looks fancy but comes together in minutes.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 pounds)
  • 8 slices provolone cheese (about 8 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Optional: 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Pat chicken breasts dry and pound to even 3/4-inch thickness if needed.
  3. Mix olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, pepper, and minced garlic in a small bowl.
  4. Brush the seasoning mixture generously over both sides of each chicken breast.
  5. Arrange chicken in the baking dish with space between pieces and drizzle with lemon juice.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until chicken reaches about 155°F internal temperature.
  7. Remove from oven and top each breast with two slices of provolone cheese, slightly overlapping.
  8. Sprinkle with optional Parmesan cheese if using.
  9. Return to oven and bake 5-7 more minutes until cheese is melted.
  10. Switch to broil for 1-2 minutes to achieve a golden brown top, watching carefully.
  11. Remove when chicken reaches 165°F internal temperature and cheese is bubbling.
  12. Let rest 5 minutes before garnishing with fresh parsley and serving.
