Ingredients
Scale
- 1½ pounds (680g) ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
- 4 tablespoons (57g) unsalted butter
- 6 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 tablespoons)
- ⅓ cup (80ml) BBQ sauce
- 3 tablespoons (63g) honey
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 8–10 taco shells or soft tortillas
- Toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced avocado, chopped cilantro, lime wedges, sour cream, and shredded cheese
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook for 7-8 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary, leaving about a tablespoon. Season with salt and pepper.
- Push beef to one side of the skillet and add butter to the empty side. Once melted, add minced garlic to the butter and cook for 30-45 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
- Mix the garlic butter into the beef, stirring to coat evenly. Add smoked paprika and cayenne pepper, combining thoroughly.
- Pour in BBQ sauce, honey, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 3-4 minutes until flavors meld and sauce thickens slightly.
- While beef simmers, warm taco shells according to package directions or toast them for enhanced flavor.
- To assemble, fill each shell with the garlic butter honey BBQ beef mixture, then add desired toppings: lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, cheese, sour cream, fresh cilantro, and a squeeze of lime juice.
