Ingredients
Scale
- 8 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced (about 8–10 medium peaches)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Combine sliced peaches with 1 cup sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla in a large bowl. Toss gently and let sit for 15-20 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Place butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and put in the oven until melted, about 5-7 minutes.
- While butter melts, whisk together flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk just until combined.
- Remove baking dish with melted butter from the oven. Pour batter over the butter without stirring.
- Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter, including all the juices. Do not stir.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and bubbling. The batter will rise through the peaches as it bakes.
- Allow to rest for 15-20 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
