Description
Crockpot Angel Chicken: Tender chicken, creamy sauce, mushrooms, and white wine cooked to perfection in a slow cooker. Easy, comforting, and a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds (900g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 packet (0.7 oz/19.8g) dry Italian dressing mix
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened and cubed
- 1 can (10.5 oz/298g) condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 cup (120ml) dry white wine (or chicken broth for alcohol-free option)
- 2 tablespoons (30g) butter, melted
- 1/4 cup (25g) chopped fresh parsley, plus extra for garnish
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the chicken by patting it dry with paper towels. This ensures better sauce adherence and prevents dilution. Place the chicken breasts in a single layer at the bottom of your 6-quart slow cooker.
- Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, dry Italian dressing mix, melted butter, white wine, garlic powder, black pepper, and dried basil until well combined. The mixture will be thick, which is exactly what you want for your Crockpot Angel Chicken.
- Step 3: Pour this mixture evenly over the chicken breasts, making sure each piece is well-coated. Don’t stir at this point—simply allow the sauce to settle naturally over the chicken.
- Step 4: Scatter the cream cheese cubes evenly across the top of the mixture. They’ll gradually melt into the sauce during cooking, creating that signature creamy texture.
- Step 5: Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours or HIGH for 2-3 hours. The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and is tender enough to shred easily with two forks.
- Step 6: About 30 minutes before serving, gently stir the sauce to incorporate the melted cream cheese. If the sauce appears too thick, add a tablespoon or two of chicken broth to reach your desired consistency.
- Step 7: Just before serving your Crockpot Angel Chicken, stir in the fresh chopped parsley. This adds a pop of color and fresh flavor that complements the rich, creamy sauce perfectly.
- Step 8: Serve hot over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes, and garnish with additional fresh parsley if desired.
