Crock Pot Teriyaki Chicken Recipe

Description

This slow cooker teriyaki chicken practically makes itself while filling your home with mouthwatering aromas that’ll have everyone asking when dinner’s ready!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, honey, chicken broth, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
  2. Place chicken thighs in the bottom of your slow cooker in a single layer.
  3. Pour the teriyaki sauce mixture evenly over the chicken and cover. Cook on LOW for 4-5 hours or on HIGH for 2-3 hours.
  4. About 30 minutes before serving, mix cornstarch and cold water in a small bowl until smooth.
  5. Remove chicken from slow cooker temporarily. Whisk the cornstarch slurry into the sauce in the slow cooker.
  6. Return the chicken to the pot, spooning sauce over each piece. Cook on HIGH for an additional 20-30 minutes until sauce thickens.
  7. Transfer to a serving platter, drizzle with extra sauce, and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  8. Serve hot over rice, noodles, or with your favorite sides.
