- 8 slices Swiss cheese (about 8 ounces)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup dry white wine (or chicken broth for alcohol-free version)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and half the thyme, then arrange in a single layer in the baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together cream of chicken soup, sour cream, white wine (or broth), remaining thyme, and onion powder until smooth.
- Pour the creamy mixture evenly over the chicken breasts, making sure each piece is well-coated.
- Lay two slices of Swiss cheese over each chicken breast, slightly overlapping them.
- In a small bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs with melted butter until all crumbs are moistened.
- Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the cheese layer.
- Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes, until chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) and the top is golden brown and bubbling.
- Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving, then garnish with fresh parsley.
