Description

Creamy Ranch Potato Casserole featuring tender potatoes, crispy bacon, and gooey melted cheese. A comforting and crowd-pleasing dish!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds (1.4 kg) russet potatoes, thinly sliced (about ⅛-inch thick)
  • 2 cups (473 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons ranch seasoning mix (store-bought or homemade)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups (8 oz/225g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (4 oz/113g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup (2 oz/56g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (about ½ cup)
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish. Thinly slice your potatoes to about ⅛-inch thickness, using a mandoline if available for consistency. In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, milk, ranch seasoning, and minced garlic, whisking until well incorporated. In a separate bowl, toss together the cheddar, mozzarella, and half the Parmesan cheese.
  2. Step 2: Create Your Base Layer Arrange one-third of your sliced potatoes in the bottom of your prepared baking dish, slightly overlapping them. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper, then pour approximately one-third of your ranch cream mixture over the potatoes. Sprinkle with one-quarter of your cheese mixture and a small amount of the crumbled bacon.
  3. Step 3: Build Your Casserole Repeat the layering process twice more with the remaining potatoes, ranch mixture, and cheese, reserving about ⅓ of the cheese and some bacon for the final topping. Each layer should be seasoned lightly with salt and pepper to ensure flavor throughout your Creamy Ranch Potato Casserole.
  4. Step 4: Add The Final Touch Top the casserole with your remaining cheese mixture, the rest of the Parmesan, and the remaining bacon crumbles. This creates that irresistible golden crust everyone will fight over.
  5. Step 5: Bake To Perfection Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes. Then remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly, and the potatoes are fork-tender. If you want an extra golden top, you can broil for the final 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
  6. Step 6: Rest And Garnish Allow your Creamy Ranch Potato Casserole to rest for 15 minutes before serving – this is crucial for the sauce to thicken slightly. Garnish with sliced green onions and fresh parsley just before bringing it to the table for a pop of color and fresh flavor that complements the rich, creamy casserole.

Fresh ingredients will always yield the best flavor results.
