Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 lbs total)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 8 garlic cloves, minced (about 3 tbsp)
- 1 small onion, finely diced (about 1/2 cup)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Pat chicken dry and season with salt, pepper, and paprika mixture on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5-6 minutes per side until golden. Transfer to a plate and tent with foil.
- Reduce heat to medium and add butter to the skillet. Once melted, add garlic and onion, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in chicken broth, bring to a simmer, and reduce by half (3-4 minutes).
- Reduce heat to medium-low and slowly add heavy cream while stirring. Add Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes if using. Simmer gently for 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese and simmer until sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
- Return chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over, and simmer together for 3-5 minutes until chicken reaches 165°F.
- Finish with fresh lemon juice and sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
