Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup (90g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 (3.4oz) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
- 3 cups cold milk
- Green food coloring (or color of choice)
- ¼ cup chocolate chips, melted
- Assorted sprinkles or candy pearls
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy (3-4 minutes). Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a muffin tin.
- Roll tablespoon-sized dough balls and press into muffin cups, creating hollow centers with ¼-inch thick walls.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes until edges are set but centers still look soft. Immediately press centers down again with a measuring spoon.
- Cool in pan 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
- Melt chocolate chips and pipe handle shapes onto parchment paper. Refrigerate until firm.
- Whisk pudding mix and milk for 2 minutes. Add food coloring to desired shade. Refrigerate 5 minutes to set slightly.
- Attach chocolate handles to cauldrons with melted chocolate. Fill with pudding and top with sprinkles to resemble bubbling potion.
