Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (454g) ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon (5g) garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon (5g) onion powder
- 1 teaspoon (5g) salt
- ½ teaspoon (2.5g) black pepper
- 4 cups (280g) romaine lettuce, chopped
- 1 cup (150g) cherry tomatoes, halved
- ¼ cup (40g) red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup (100g) cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled (optional)
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 4 tablespoons (60ml) burger sauce or dressing of choice
Instructions
- In a large bowl, gently combine ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until just mixed.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned beef and cook for 7-9 minutes, breaking into crumbles, until browned and cooked through.
- While meat cooks, prepare all vegetables and toppings, keeping them separate.
- Assemble bowls by starting with a base of romaine lettuce in each bowl.
- Add a portion of hot burger meat to the center of each bowl.
- Immediately sprinkle cheese over the hot meat if you want it to melt slightly.
- Arrange tomatoes, red onions, bacon crumbles, and avocado slices around the meat.
- Drizzle with burger sauce or dressing of choice just before serving.
- Serve immediately while the contrast between hot meat and cool vegetables is at its peak.
