Description
Make delicious breakfast sausage crescent rolls with buttery pastry and savory sausage. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a quick snack!
Ingredients
Scale
For the Crescent Roll Dough:
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing the baking sheet)
For the Sausage Filling:
- 1 lb breakfast sausage (mild, spicy, or flavored)
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra richness)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions (optional, for added flavor)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
- Prepare the Sausage Filling: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the breakfast sausage and cook, breaking it up into small pieces with a spoon. Cook until the sausage is browned and cooked through. If you’re adding onions, sauté them in the pan until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Season the sausage with black pepper and garlic powder to taste. Once cooked, drain any excess fat and set the sausage mixture aside to cool slightly.
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
- Assemble the Rolls: Open the can of crescent roll dough and unroll it on a flat surface. Separate the dough into individual triangles. Spoon a small amount of the sausage mixture onto each triangle, adding a pinch of shredded cheese if desired. Roll up each triangle, starting from the wider end and rolling towards the tip, ensuring that the sausage is wrapped tightly.
- Bake the Rolls: Place the rolled-up crescent rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops of the rolls with olive oil for a golden, crisp finish. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and puffed up.
- Serve and Garnish: Once baked, remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley for added flavor and color. Serve warm with your favorite breakfast sides.
