Description

Bang Bang Salmon: Spicy glazed salmon with a crispy crust, perfect for a quick and delicious seafood dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each), skin-on or skinless
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds for garnish
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
  • 3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Prepare the salmon fillets by patting them dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper, pressing the seasonings gently into the flesh.
  2. Step 2: Mix all the bang bang sauce ingredients in a medium bowl until completely smooth and well-combined. Start with less sriracha, taste, and add more if you prefer more heat. Set aside 1/4 cup of the sauce for serving, and reserve the remainder for brushing onto the salmon.
  3. Step 3: Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down (if using skin-on) in the hot pan. Don’t overcrowd the pan – work in batches if needed to ensure proper searing.
  4. Step 4: Cook the salmon for 4-5 minutes on the first side without moving it. You’ll see the salmon becoming opaque from the bottom up. When it’s cooked about 3/4 of the way up the sides, carefully flip the fillets.
  5. Step 5: Immediately brush the cooked side of salmon with the bang bang sauce. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes or until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 125°F for medium doneness.
  6. Step 6: Remove the salmon from the heat and let it rest for 2 minutes. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute throughout the fish, ensuring maximum tenderness and flavor.
  7. Step 7: Transfer your Bang Bang Salmon to serving plates, drizzle with the reserved sauce, and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor experience.
