Description
These French toast sticks cook up perfectly crispy in the air fryer in just minutes, making breakfast fun again without all the oil and mess.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 slices thick-cut bread (Texas toast or brioche)
- 3 large eggs
- ⅔ cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
- Non-stick cooking spray
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (optional)
Instructions
- Cut each slice of bread into 3-4 even strips. If using fresh bread, let the cut sticks sit out for 20 minutes to dry slightly.
- In a wide, shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and melted butter (if using).
- Dip each bread stick into the custard mixture for 3-5 seconds per side, allowing excess to drip off.
- Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes, then lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
- Place soaked sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t touch.
- Cook for 6 minutes, then flip each stick and continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Work in batches if needed, then serve immediately with maple syrup or your favorite toppings.
