Air Fryer French Toast Sticks

Air Fryer French Toast Sticks

Description

These French toast sticks cook up perfectly crispy in the air fryer in just minutes, making breakfast fun again without all the oil and mess.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices thick-cut bread (Texas toast or brioche)
  • 3 large eggs
  • ⅔ cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut each slice of bread into 3-4 even strips. If using fresh bread, let the cut sticks sit out for 20 minutes to dry slightly.
  2. In a wide, shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and melted butter (if using).
  3. Dip each bread stick into the custard mixture for 3-5 seconds per side, allowing excess to drip off.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes, then lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
  5. Place soaked sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t touch.
  6. Cook for 6 minutes, then flip each stick and continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Work in batches if needed, then serve immediately with maple syrup or your favorite toppings.
