One Pot Spicy Sausage Pasta Recipe

Description

Enjoy a creamy, spicy One Pot Spicy Sausage Pasta made with sausage, pasta, and a rich, savory sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights!

Ingredients

  • Italian Sausage: 1 pound (either spicy or mild, depending on your preference) – The star protein in the dish, providing savory flavor.
  • Pasta: 8 ounces (penne or rigatoni works best) – Provides the base for the dish, absorbing the creamy sauce.
  • Heavy Cream: 1 cup – Adds richness and creaminess to the sauce.
  • Chicken Broth: 2 cups – Adds depth and moisture to the pasta.
  • Olive Oil: 1 tablespoon – For cooking the sausage and sautéing the garlic.
  • Garlic: 3 cloves, minced – Adds a fragrant base to the dish.
  • Crushed Red Pepper Flakes: 1 teaspoon – For a spicy kick. Adjust the amount depending on how much heat you prefer.
  • Salt and Pepper: To taste – For seasoning the dish.
  • Parmesan Cheese: 1/2 cup, grated – Adds a nutty, salty flavor that complements the creamy sauce.
  • Fresh Parsley: For garnish – Adds color and freshness to the finished dish.

Instructions

  1. Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sausage, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Brown the sausage until it’s fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Once the sausage is browned, remove it from the pan and set it aside.
  2. Sauté the Garlic: In the same pan, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Cook the Pasta: Add the chicken broth and bring it to a simmer. Once simmering, add the pasta to the pan. Stir to combine, and let it cook, uncovered, for about 8-10 minutes, or until the pasta is al dente. Stir occasionally to ensure the pasta cooks evenly and doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
  4. Add the Cream: Once the pasta is cooked, stir in the heavy cream, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.
  5. Add the Sausage: Return the cooked sausage to the pan, stirring to incorporate it into the pasta and sauce. Let it simmer for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Finish the Dish: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, allowing it to melt into the sauce. Taste the dish and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  7. Serve: Serve the One Pot Spicy Sausage Pasta hot, garnished with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese, if desired.
