Ham and Cheese Croissant Casserole

Ham and Cheese Croissant Casserole

Description

Make this easy Ham and Cheese Croissant Casserole for a savory, delicious breakfast or brunch. Perfect for feeding a crowd!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 croissants, preferably day-old or slightly stale, torn into pieces
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced (or turkey, bacon, or other protein of choice)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, Gruyère, or a blend)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk (or almond milk for dairy-free option)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Prepare the croissants: Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and layer them evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Layer the ham and cheese: Sprinkle the diced ham over the croissant pieces, then top with one cup of the shredded cheese.
  4. Make the custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard (if using), salt, and pepper. Pour this custard mixture evenly over the croissants, ensuring all the pieces are soaked.
  5. Top with cheese: Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese over the top of the casserole.
  6. Bake: Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set. If the top is browning too quickly, cover it loosely with foil for the last 10 minutes of baking.
  7. Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
