Graham Cracker Toffee

Graham Cracker Toffee

Description

Make delicious Graham Cracker Toffee with just a few ingredients. This sweet and crunchy treat is perfect for holidays or anytime!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sleeve of graham crackers (about 9 crackers)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips (or your favorite chocolate)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional, such as pecans, almonds, or walnuts)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Graham Cracker Base: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and arrange the graham crackers in a single layer, covering the entire sheet.
  2. Make the Toffee: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, stir in the brown sugar and bring the mixture to a boil. Let it cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture thickens slightly.
  3. Pour the Toffee: Carefully pour the toffee mixture over the graham crackers, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Make sure all the crackers are coated with the toffee mixture.
  4. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the toffee mixture is bubbling and the edges start to darken slightly. Be sure not to overcook it, as the toffee can become too hard.
  5. Add the Chocolate: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let the chocolate sit for a few minutes to soften, then spread it evenly over the toffee with a spatula.
  6. Add Nuts: If you’re using nuts, sprinkle them over the chocolate layer while it’s still soft. This adds a crunchy texture that contrasts beautifully with the sweet toffee and smooth chocolate.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate the toffee for at least 2 hours to allow it to harden. Once set, break it into pieces and serve.
