French Silk Brownies Recipe

Description

Indulge in French silk brownies with a fudgy brownie base and creamy chocolate mousse topping. Perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, melted

For the French Silk Mousse Topping:

  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brownie Base: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×9-inch baking pan. In a medium bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar together until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Stir in the melted semi-sweet chocolate.
  2. Bake the Brownies: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the brownies to cool completely on a cooling rack.
  3. Prepare the French Silk Mousse: While the brownies are cooling, prepare the mousse topping. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar together until creamy. Add the melted semi-sweet chocolate and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. In a separate bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture until well combined.
  4. Assemble the Brownies: Once the brownies are completely cool, spread the French silk mousse topping evenly over the top. Smooth it out with a spatula to cover the entire surface.
  5. Chill the Brownies: Refrigerate the brownies for at least 1 hour to allow the mousse to set. This helps the topping firm up and makes the brownies easier to slice.
  6. Serve: Slice the brownies into squares and serve. Enjoy them as an indulgent dessert or as a special treat for any occasion.
